Oct. 16 is target date for St. Andrews waterfront restaurant
PANAMA CITY ? The Shrimp Boat restaurant tentatively is scheduled to open Oct. 16 after 2? years of construction. Modeled architecturally after a 19th-century Cuban cigar factory, the Shrimp Boat also features two second-floor banquet rooms, Gracie Rea's Bar and Grille on the building's west end, and an adjacent St. Andrews Seafood Market with dockside and 12th Street entrances.
Lots of interest
Word of the restaurant's opening reached all the way to Atlanta, with job applicants pouring into town in search of employment. The restaurant took employment applications for less than two weeks and had more than 1,000 people apply for about 75 positions.
The main Shrimp Boat restaurant will be open from 4 to 10 p.m. seven days a week, with plans to start offering Sunday brunch in a few months. The restaurant will announce the soft opening date soon. A grand opening celebration will be held about a month after that date.
