People who fish and hunt from boats need to follow safe boating practices, especially the wearing of a PFD. Accident risks are high among this group of recreational boaters.
  • Anglers and hunters often don?t consider themselves boaters and often pay little attention to learning and observing boating safety rules.
  • One third of all boating fatalities involved someone who was hunting, fishing or on the way to hunt or fish.
  • Many water-based hunting and fishing accidents occur when a hunter reaches for a decoy, or the boat capsizes from an unbalanced load, or a person falls overboard while standing up.
  • All outdoor sports enthusiasts who use a boat need to properly educate themselves in boating fundamentals
  • Remember, dress for the water temperature, not just the air temperature (Cold Water Immersion).
  • Pay particular attention to the capacity plate information and never overload your boat.

Isn't this the same city where the mayor disappeared for 2 weeks only to show back up and resign?

I think they overreacted, but it's sort of a Catch-22 for schools. When they do react to a seemingly innocuous event, we condemn them for being excessive, when they don't and something happens, we call them negligent and demand to know why they let it happen. :dunno:

Then if that's the case regarding no guns policy, then they will need to remove pictures out of the history schoolbooks.
The kid didn't come to school with a water gun and start shooting kids with it and disrupt the classroom for goodness sake.

No, but he was suspended after an incident on a school bus that led to a parent complaint.

My guess is that the other kid came home and told the parent "so-and-so drew a picture of him shooting me with a gun".............fast forward to the AP being involved!

I know it's not the norm, but it HAS happened:
Feb. 29, 2000
Mount Morris Township, Mich. Six-year-old Kayla Rolland shot dead at Buell Elementary School near Flint, Mich. The assailant was identified as a six-year-old boy with a .32-caliber handgun.

The above was obviously an extreme case, but still happened. Most school shooters are 14 or 15 or older.
