Probably that's what happened. But at the very least, the school could have called the other little boys mother to discuss it.
I'm not a fan of zero tolerance policies (love the person who said "often zero tolerance=zero brains"), but they became necessary because everyone got sue happy.
If it isn't explicitly spelled out as school policy, someone claims favoritism, discrimination etc. If they get a complaint and act in accordance w/ the policies, they're excessive, if they don't do anything they're allowing bullying etc. and get lambasted for that.
In my world, the parent would have just called the other and solved the problem, but that isn't the current reality.

I can see a policy of no guns in school, but a drawing, gimme a break.
I wonder if that was spelled out in their policy?
Had this issue the other day with my 11 year nephew. He wore a green stripe in his brunette hair that washes out. He was sent to the principals office. She told him it was against school policy. He asked why the other boys could have permanent stripes (highlighting) in their hair? (which seems to be the rage now with the boys) and my sister was called and she told him that he was being insubordinate. (He's also an A student)
The same day they lost my 6 year old nephew on the wrong school bus. :roll:

I'm not saying it was justified or intelligent, just that this is what it's come down to because of parents biatching, the media, lawyers, insurance etc.

I've known parents who refused to buy their little boys toy guns or allow them to watch t.v./movies with guns. The boys end up taking a big bite out of their toast, pointing one end at someone, and shouting, "BANG!" (Or they build them out of sticks, or they point fingers.) Boys like to shoot things. Hunter-gatherers. God love 'em.
Privitization of education. I keep saying it. School plays, school prayers, school buses, school policies, academic standards. I went to public school and did fine, but this stuff is effin' ridiculous.

It's completely out of control and extremely ridiculous.
All of this nonsense was why I stopped being a camp counselor - there were just too many rules (often contradictory) and liability concerns overruled everything.
