The chain letter is going around, but here is the poem without the bogus part of the email

Slow Dance
written by David L. Weatherford

Have you ever watched kids
on a merry-go-round
Or listened to the rain
slapping on the ground?

Ever followed a butterfly's erratic flight
Or gazed at the sun into the fading night?
You better slow down
Don't dance so fast
Time is short
The music won't last

Do you run through each day
on the fly
When you ask "How are you?"
do you hear the reply?

When the day is done,
do you lie in your bed
With the next hundred chores
running through your head?

You'd better slow down
Don't dance so fast
Time is short
The music won't last

Ever told your child,
We'll do it tomorrow
And in your haste,
not see his sorrow?

Ever lost touch,
Let a good friendship die
'Cause you never had time
to call and say "Hi"?

You'd better slow down
Don't dance so fast
Time is short
The music won't last

When you run so fast to get somewhere
You miss half the fun of getting there.
When you worry and hurry through your day,
It is like an unopened gift....
Thrown away...

Life is not a race.
Do take it slower
Hear the music
Before the song is over.

I love this....I have gotten it several times over the years. It does make me stop and think. My sister and I were just talking last night about how fast our lives are. A blink of an eye really. So, yes we should all take the time to slow down and enjoy our lives. I know I get really, really busy and forget to just live. I am trying hard to change that about myself. Thanks for posting SJ.

Thanks SJ...I try to live my life slower. We all need to slow down and be in the moment. This poem made me feel childlike again.

I just got back from the funeral home. I can't say that I knew the deceased really well, although I've seen her quite a few times over the last 20 years, but she is the mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother of the greatest mysteries of my life.

If it weren't enough for me to be born into a family who loves me unconditionally and overwhelmingly, I was also whole-heartedly scooped up by another family who leaves me wondering what I did to deserve them.

I'm nothing special. I walk in and wonder if the love they give me is the very thing that makes me special--if that's what makes me theirs.

The poem talks about slowing down and not letting go of the precious things in life. I've found that some of the most precious things in my life are the things that make me stop. They are part of the love that will not let me go.

Thanks SJ and HoHall. Always good to have these reminders to focus on the present. I recently went to a mindfulness yoga workshop to learn how to be more mindful (which, in part, means focusing on the present). It was quite useful.
