I don't have AOL and I use Internet Explorer as my browser. If I change to Firefox will everything on my computer still work the same or will it screw up some internal settings where I would have to know how to go in and change them, which I don't. Can you still have yahoo mail or hotmail? And about these 2 free utilities from Eusing.com, are they only to be used with Firefox? Inquiring minds want to know.

Firefox asks you if you want to import your favorites automatically. You can keep Explorer and use both at your discretion. Eusing utilities aren't browser specific, and are fast and effective. Firefox is a better way to surf, and picks up fewer internet "pests".

Yeah, but you can hold my internet hand when you try Firefox. You can try one without dumping the other. Whatever you decide, download those two utilities, clean out your registery, and temp files so that you can turbocharge your computer speed. You'll be a happy, fast Kitty.

Bob, Tell me how I ended up with AOL as my homepage when I have NEVER NEVER used AOL since I did use it years ago and it took me 6 months to get rid of them. I had a major computer snafu about a month ago, and had to do system recovery. When I got back up and running, when I clicked on the "e" I get AOL!!!

AOL plants roots in people's puters (registries) like weeds. I would go into your Remove Programs, and uninstall everything AOL related. Then also download Bob's registry cleaner and run that.
It will fix registry problems caused by other factors as well, but should clean up any changes that aol made to your registry affecting your computer that isn't removed from uninstalling aol.

The only thing I have AOl related is instant messenger (which I hardly use) and I do not allow the updates, I just use the basic IM program occasionally. You can download instant messenger for free without having to have aol. (if you use it)

You most likely recovered your computer to a date when the program was resident on your computer, and AOL was the default home page under the internet options tab. It's all good. Try Firefox. Less bad stuff will come your way. Most of the evilness out there is directed at Internet Explorer.

I switched to Firefox a couple of days ago on my Mac and LOVED it. However, I was having some problems last night. It seemed to only be on this board, which was why I was asking.

Do you know much about Macs, Bob?

Thanks, Mangy and Bob. I kinda figured they must have done something low down and lily livered. Anyway, I will probably be calling you Mangy, and Bob, I will try Firefox...but I'll have to go back and read this whole thread. I might PM you for help too!!
