Thanks all! I will have to try the rice milk because even though he is tolerating SIlk & regular soy milk he's not loving them. Bought rice cheese but he hasn't tried it yet. I'll probably have to mix it in something. I'll have to say he's being a really good sport about it, but he's not getting many calories at the moment. And the soy protein is not doing much for the flavor of the shakes, but we're still experimenting.
Cudos to him for even trying some of these unfamiliar things! :clap_1: That's pretty brave!

Thanks for the advice SJ! The owner of one of the health food stores is the one who referred me to the dr, so I spent a lot of time with him today talking about the products. I bought a large container of Soy protein powder & some calcium/D to replace the milk/beef & when we get the smooothie recipe figured out I'll be adding it. Luckily, once we get his system cleared out, we may be able to re-introduce foods a little at a time. May take a while, but hopefully he will learn to love the good stuff so much he won't miss the bad stuff.
Try mixing the protein powder with grape or some other fruit juices. This makes for an easy good tasting drink. Aside from the nutritional value it also helps clean out your system.

I just clicked on one of the smoothie recipes listed above and see Soy Milk (non-dairy) as a replacement ingredient for the yogurt (dairy). I think that would solve your protein problem. For Soy Milk, I think the vanilla flavored Silk is one of the better tasting ones.

(I like allrecipes.com and have used it as a reference when cooking several times with good results-- Thanks, lindabobhat.)

Silk vanilla is the best. You can also use the chocolate flavored and add strawberries and/or bananas. Don't forget about honey...very good source for energy...honey, silk vanilla and some lemon juice:scratch: ...I may have to try some of these made up do-it-yourself smoothies!

BTW...just finished reading the other posts...add peanut butter to smoothies it is a great addition. I used to make my son peanut butter, chocolate powder, and banana shakes. He loved them!
