smokers in non smoking houses

Scooty, you are right on this one. Hubby's parents lived in Wisconsin, and we have lived in LA, SC, FL, and GA. They didn't like to call -- they preferred writing lovely letters interspersed with beautiful artwork. But they both smoked. Even after traveling from WI to The South, the letters always reeked of cigarette smoke. Ick!

Unfortunately they both died of cancer from the smoking.

even my letter carrier smokes in his mail truck and when I bring in the mail, it reeks of cig smoke. I've almost called to complain but figure that's taking it too far. But god it's bad.

Like others have said, smokers don't realize how the smoke odor gets on everything.

Sorry for the diatribe, but I've got a super-sniffer and cigarettes are just HELL on it. Mama Scooterbug (smoker until about 4 months before I was born) and I are nicotine nazis, but we can also detect gas leaks that the utility co's sensors barely pick up.

It's a 2-way street, I can recognize people and places by smell and get to really enjoy the outdoors and our sea breezes, but I have to reject paperback books at the library because they've been in a smoker's home, I can't read most magazines, eat pickles or garlic around family, or use any of the typical everyday "scented" items - dryer sheets, deodorant, perfume etc.

On the plus side, I can certainly tell tell you that the "core" sowallers are a bunch of very clean and non-stinky folk!

He's breaking the law. If it is a truck provided by the USPS then it's considered his work space and is also required to be non smoking by law.
