KDW, I am so happy to have found someone else who had RK.
Looking back nearly 20 years later, I'm pretty happy with my RK. The reason I had RK was that I was extremely nearsighted, and could not wear contacts with comfort due to astigmatism, and hypersensitivity (my eyes are pretty much always red). They left me just a little near-sighted, so that when I got to the age where we are now, my vision would actually improve. And it did, but now I am to the other side.
But at least, my progressive bifocals are small and lightweight, instead of coke bottles. My biggest issue with bifocals is going down stairs. Between not seeing the steps well and being clumsy anyway, it's not good (but I still hate escalators worse!).
What I am unhappy about is the loss of my ability to drive in unfamiliar areas at night. Though I'm not sure that's from my RK, or from the cataracts that I'll probably have to have removed next year.
