Forgive my ignorance, but is one of these photos of our own Dread Clampitt playing at the Telluride Bluegrass Festival? That is a great time! My best friend from FSU college days lives out there most of the year now and loves it.
This trip is not for the faint of heart, pun intended. Those plumped up bags of potato chips you see in the markets depict what happens to your bod when you go directly from sea level to 10,000+ ft. altitude. Some are not effected, but many will experience shortness of breath, headaches, drowsiness combined with sleep interruption, even nausea. One can have an adverse reaction to altitude regardless of your age or fitness level. There are pills you can take to counteract these symptoms...they make colas taste like liquid aluminum. Best bet is to fly into Denver and then drive to Telluride, acclimating to the altitude more gradually. Take a large vat of moisturizer, drink as much water as you can, and slather on the sunscreen there.
Oh, yes...don't eat chili or their delicious cowboy beans within 48 hours of arrival!

Truly one of the most gorgeous spots on Planet Earth.
