I am leaving to go get some dinner, but thought I would leave you something to chew on....

What was the most dysfunnctional thread of the week? I guess I should have done a poll, but that takes calories and I am running low.

Ta Ta for now!

My best vote goes for the thread I got deleted from for using the "R" word!!! :rotfl:

Most of you have no clue how it is to live in a small mill town in the South. So diss my thread all you'd like. Unless you've experienced it, you can't possibly understand where I'm coming from. :sosad:

So, here is a perfect example of rising above something. My hope is that we can all learn something from your initial post...and yes, even from some of the ugliness that followed. We are all composites of our experiences and environment, but that does not mean we cannot grow and change no matter our age.

I started this thread because of some of the posts have made my hair stand up. One the one hand, I enjoy reading others points of view...however, I just read the last few posts on "The Inconvenient Truth" and I am dismayed at the peronal attacks.

yes, the mlk thread was ridiculous, from start to finish, and I should have stayed away. being from the south I've seen and heard far worse. it's just a discussion though, and many of you had some really good, positive comments to add to it - cause you're all great people (the best!) and its a way to share our experiences and feelings and knowledge on such matters. so, I say its all okay (except for the name calling - which I had part in and should have known better).

I'm missing out on the real estate threads though. maybe I'll catch up this week... :D

just took another look at the Inconvenient Truth thread. well, who knew 3B was so serious about stuff? I'm proud of him! though I don't really agree with his analysis. but I've learned from his discussion. never met him but love him.

again, I'm just happy folks are discussing such important issues. some folks get a little heated and resort to name calling from time to time, which, as we have been reminded, is a no-no.

I have yet to see the movie (I want to see it!). it seems its doing what it should: promote conversation and real thought on global warming and matters that concern everyone on earth.

I knew you never meant it the way some took it. I completely understand where you're coming from. The part of the thread that I'm dissing is how out of control it got by about the 3th or 4th page! And it did get out of control. It's healthy to have discussions and differences of opinions. It makes us all stop and think. :clap_1:

BR, I think the original post ruffled a few feathers, but nothing in comparison to where it went from there.....along about page 3 like JR said. You must admit it got just downright ugly there for a while---til 30-gAy came along...
I see where you all are coming from. A few folks on that thread did get ugly with the personal attacks. Like Kurt said, you can disagree with someone's opinion without attacking them personally.

Shoot- I was hoping this was the thread that dispenses the meds.:D

No worries though, since I washed away my board sins and cleansed my soul with a bucket of red wine last night.

Inconvenient Truth and MLK - a tie for everyday, run of the mill thread-gone-wild.

The Super Granddaddy of Scary Threads is the Redfish Village discussion debacle. I check in every now and then to see who's winning (I'm keeping score on Kate's chalkboard- multiple quoting skills score extra points). Locking it won't help- I suggest buying a bunch of foam rubber bats and let them all beat the snot out of each other. If we sold tickets, it would be a great fundraiser for something.
