Shoot- I was hoping this was the thread that dispenses the meds.:D

No worries though, since I washed away my board sins and cleansed my soul with a bucket of red wine last night.

Inconvenient Truth and MLK - a tie for everyday, run of the mill thread-gone-wild.

The Super Granddaddy of Scary Threads is the Redfish Village discussion debacle. I check in every now and then to see who's winning (I'm keeping score on Kate's chalkboard- multiple quoting skills score extra points). Locking it won't help- I suggest buying a bunch of foam rubber bats and let them all beat the snot out of each other. If we sold tickets, it would be a great fundraiser for something.

I am so jealous of the red wine bucket!!! but jdarg, what board sins? you are always such nice and funn and clever wench on this board!

I need to stop making feeble attempts to slay dragons. Especially dragons that aren't worth slaying.

but you are always very lighthearted and never hurtful. you defend "people" by not standing for comments based on stereotypes; you don't accept judgemental statements aimed at a person or group of people. this I like and admire about you so much.

so don't ever change!!!

once a wench, always a wench...

Now you guys made me go back and read those two threads. Very interesting. MLK Day and Global Warming.

I reflect back on Monday's events as they relate to these threads. I was picked up at my hotel in Jackson Hole, Wyoming for a day of snowmobiling through Yellowstone Park  . It was 28 degrees F below zero in Jackson Hole when the shuttle arrived. When we got to the South Gate of Yellowstone, they informed us it was 55 F below at Old Faithful and we wouldn't be snowmobiling. We went to see the geysers and hot springs by snow coach instead.

By the time we reached Old Faithful, about two hours later, it had warmed up to a balmy 20 or 30 below. As we approached the area the guide told us we were in the caldera of the volcano, last eruption was 640,000 years ago, the next one is expected soon (soon meaning next week or 10,000 years from now) and an eruption could cause an ice age.

Watching the eruptions, then walking through the hot springs I thought of how MLK's holiday had brought me to the most amazing thing I had ever seen - the magical power of our earth and how little we people are in comparison. The contrast of 20 to 30 below zero air and water boiling out of the earth was unbelievable. I had recently seen An Inconvenient Truth and wondered how much of a difference humans are making when the earth contains so much power itself. At those temperatures you're thinking....global warming...ummmmm okay. (and I'm not saying there's no global warming so no flames please? :D )

Thought provoking threads for sure, and IMO tie for the award.

Michigan but someday in SoWal as well
I stayed away from those two threads (though I admire people who can discuss the issues thoughtfully, it's hard to be understood when discussing these sensitive issues online). BUT, I really want to know when Josh is going to respond to Kimmifunn's thread. Josh, you've been a brave poster so far -- c'mon and respond to Kimmifunn -- she's one of the long-time posters and among the most fearless and beloved of this online community!
