Mine, too! Love Pat Conroy!

I must read this. It will be a history lesson into my best friend's and my godchildren's family history. Her family is from SOB., summering in Flat Rock, NC. Her brother lives in a beautiful home SOB, wedding at St. Michael's Episcopal Church with a pew with the family name, wedding reception at Carolina Yacht Club (which turned down America's Cup sailor and CNN founder Ted Turner because they considered him new money). My godchild's daughter has Rutledge (a primary street SOB) as her middle name, her brother has Rutledge as his middle name (BTW Rutledge was a signer of the U.S. Constitution).

One of my favorite novel's is Conroy's The Prince of Tides. Not the movie -- it was the Barbra Streisand Show.

Thanks for the book suggestion. We have had some great times in Charleston.

I'm about 1/4 through, and so far, I'm finding South of Broad to be quintessential Conroy... deeply in love with adjectives and the Low Country. Why use 2 words when 5 will do nicely, which is exactly what Conroy fans expect. You can absolutely feel the geography of the places he describes.

Not all the reviews have been kind (Conroy is too rich for some), but as this is his first published fiction in 14 years, I'm betting fans will read and enjoy it nonetheless.

I'm curious to know what others think.

I digg Pat Conroy. Is it good? Why am I even asking? Of course it's outstanding!

I just started it yesterday. I was really looking forward to it as Beach Music is one of my favorites. So far, I am enjoying it.

Same here. Prince of Tides was a fabulous read.....I still have hard time with 'that scene' however.
