Hi, I'm from the Midwest. We have been coming to SoWal for about 18 years and LOVE it. In a few weeks, we'll make our first trip to SoWal in December. I know it won't be warm/hot like summer, but what are some good things that we can expect? also, the friends we're traveling with have never been here. We are staying on the beach.

Is the grass green still?

November and December are basically our Fall - at least for folks from cold climates. With highs like today of 70, and lows in the sweater range. I think it's supposed to get pretty cool tomorrow.

It will likely be heaven for you if there is ice where you leave from.

We're from Indiana and have a second home in Sowal. We LOVE to go down over the holidays. We enjoy walks on the beach wearing jeans and sweaters, and it seems like the water is always so pretty. It can get pretty darn cold at night, but we've usually experienced temps in the mid-60s during the day. If the sun is out, it feels great. If not, it can feel a little nippy. The only thing I can't get used to is that the sun sets around 4:30 in the afternoon...I don't like that at all. But if you're from Illinois, you might be used to that. :D

thanks for your answers, guys! We are wondering what kinds of clothes to bring. Obviously shorts and tank tops probably won't be a good idea but you think sweatshirts and jeans?

I would bring a pair of shorts and light t-shirt or two. It's 70 here today. You never know about here, we never put away our summer clothes, and wear flip-flops in the Winter...

well, you know, Midwest October is not too bad....and like someone said, in the sun, it could be much warmer if it's not too breezy, I guess. Yay for the flipflops! We break 'em out here when it climbs up to 65! So I think I'll bring some and hope for the best.

I love to look at the water, and I read somewhere that it is particularly beautiful in winter. Is that true?

I may drive over from Port St. Joe for a few hours on New Year's Eve. Will the Christmas decor still be up in Rosemary, Seaside and WaterColor?
