Read the beach activities ordinance. The county fails to comply on more than one point. That being the case it has become nothing more than fee that they collect. Since they do not do their part, this fee then is a tax, all taxes have to be authorized by the State of Florida. This tax is not authorized, therefore it is illegal.
I know, a spurious argument at best, but I have had more than one government attorney agree with me. :funn:Maybe I am on to something.
Not like they are going to know if you do not get one. All they do is make a copy of it, give you one, stick the original in a drawer. Since they are closed when the fire is actually built, how could anyone check to see if you had a permit? Another example of government gone wild.
The Sheriff's Deputy patrolling the beach checks to see if you have the permit.

Checks it against what then? SO does not have access to the completed forms. They are all in a file folder in the office.
So go ahead and get the fire permit. Are you going to get a special event/activity permit also? According to the ordinance it appears that is required for any event on the beach.
I don't usually get an activity permit and I've had some activities on the beaches in sowal......haven't been to the pokey, yet. Maybe it means weddings, etc.......I have no idea. But, I know the burn permit is being handled for the soiree.....if we need a soiree permit, we'll get one.

Caught my eye that is you expect 100 or more you have to do the security thing. I guess ShallowsFuzz is going to have to come now.
