Friday:
Drove to Dothan with Stace, spent the night kids in tow...none of them knowing what was in store...except me!
Saturday:
Getting to Kurt & Toot's... kids and Stace in awe of their home !
GETTING TO SEE Spidey....
and having him "meet" his cousins (OH...seeing Kurt and Tootsie too )
Checking in at Rivard (the house was ready by 2:00!!!!) Check in was a breeze...I was so excited!
Getting to the Washaway and seeing the awe on my daughter's face and hearing her say "Mom if you ever move here I am coming with you"!!!
The Wasaway itself...OMG...what a GREAT old house, so much character and old charm. She truly is a grand dame of houses. She has doors everywhere, and the porches were amazing. The view....
Unloading then heading down to the Red Bar, but showing Stace the lake first and who do we see kayaking up but SJ and the Mers!!!!!! They had been out there since 11:00 and it was about 3:30 at the time. As we were chatting who drives up??? JDARG!!!! she jumps out and we all meet, greet and HUG!!!
Stace thinks this is all totally amazing that we are all instant friends!!
Red Bar for a drink to show it off to Stace, then we head to the beach.
The kids are all scattered around (teenagers..so they went off to do their thing)
My brother arriving from New Orleans with his daughter!!!!
PEAPOD coming over and meeting us that afternoon...with a promise to come party that night
Kurt, Tootsie, mom and dad arriving and loving the Washaway...they appreciate it's beauty and charm as much as I do!
Burgers, chicken wings abound! Franny, Mr Franny, Peapod's with Grayton Kid !, Dargs, Inletbchdweller and her crew, Cork & Sunshine, SJ, Beachy Green and his son all come to party the first night...it is all and more than I had envisioned! ) Kids running around all over the place...what a great night
Drunk dialings to Kimmifunn, DD and Audie. I had no cell coverage...used Cork's phone.
No computer for any of us, sorry about the lack of communication...at least Cork saved the day a few times by bringing out her lap top!
Sunday:
Woke up at 6:30 the next morning...fixed french toast and bacon for all....then we hit the beach. Peapod and Darg sightings all day! Perfect weather and the water was so pretty!
Lazy day on the beach.
Wind was begining to pick up in the evening..red flag is out.
Meet at the lake outlet with Kurt & Toots, Lindabobhat joins us!!!! (she has jello shots...:shock: We all go back to the Washawayfor Tacos, Teresa's wonderful Pesto with bread and YUMMY peel and eat shrimp from Goatfeathers!!!
Monday
Stace has to go, but she leaves her son to ensure a Thurs night return!!!
Took the kids to Sea Side in the afternoon.
My sister arrives from St. Pete with her 2 kids...loves the Washaway and the beach too!
Dinner was Grilled pork loin and beef tenderloin.
Tuesday:
Double red flags out...kids are dissapointed because they want to go in the waves!
Storm approaching but we never really got much rain or bad weather. It did change the color of the water...I missed the beautiful blue...but it was interesting seeing the different "moods" of the beach!
Quiet night at Kurt's where my brother cooked his venison roast. It was delish!
Uncle Timmy was there...and we all laughed and drank till we had to go home. We were supposed to stop in at Pandoras but it was too late..
Wednesday:
Weather is lovely but the waves are still pretty big!. Lay out on the beach. My son and nephew surf fished. Brad caught a large sting ray and draws a crowd. He caught a whitey and my brother the expert cleaned it. I cooked it that night (just enough for Brad.)..it was so good!
(I had hoped to get Brad on a charter, but they were all booked up...next year I will pre book!)
My brother was supposed to leave this day, but he loved it so much he stayed till Thursday!
Lunch at the Red Bar!
Kurt brought over his kayak..the kids play in the lake and the surf.
I invited everyone back to Washaway for dinner...Uncle Timmy, Cork and Joanne, Kurt & Toots.... lots of comings and goings during the night!
A wonderful night! Tootsie & Spidey spent the night!
I am so glad that the Kids are all getting to know eachother so well!
Thursday
Another great day on the beach!!
Gather the crew and head over to the Sea Bar...kids eat there...sis & I head to Three thirty one and have dinner with Kurt & Toots....YUM YUM YUM!!!(thanks Kurt )
Headed over to Sea Bar and got me some Dread!! EVERYONE was there! I even met the infamous...whoops..I mean famous... LL!!!
Steeling 1, Grayton Kid, Peapods, Dargs, SJ, Lindabobhat, Franny, Cork...the gang was all there! I met a few new friends and invited them over for a last hurrah Friday night.
11:00 Stace gets back to town...along with another friend Pat. I got them settled in then crashed.
Friday:
Last day..... But it was a beauty! Great weather!! All day beach and the Red Bar for afternoon drinks!
Met on the beach with Kurt & Toots again...along with her sister and brother!!! Dargs, Lindabobhat and Pods.
Friday night...last bit of funn! Everyone showed up at one point or another...except for a few... But we won't hold it against them
We didn't eat till late...chicken kabobs and rice.
It was a sad night...none of us wanted to leave Grayton!
Saturday:
I was up by 6:00...packing and getting ready to leave.....
Jdarg said good bye then Pea came over and we had our good byes....promises all around that we will do it all again next year...only with all of the board !!!
To sum it all up...it was a wonderful vacation, my kids had a wonderful time and that was my main goal...to give them a vacation that they will remember!
It was everything I had hoped and MORE!!!! I am getting goose bumps remembering it!
My biggest gripe is that my camera died after the first day..so I will have to wait on my sister's pictures....
I missed all of you...but it was so good to be in Grayton!
