Just got back from mailing my package. No handmade card though - (it is slightly handmade - I did have to assemble it). Was going to attempt a handmade one but Target was out of pink & red construction paper. :bang: I tried to make up for the card with some bought & homemade goodies though!

Grayt job Shaken!!!! :clap:I got mine off to the PO this morning....it feels good to have it all taken care of.

Was your post office experience as long as mine? Usually it is not a big deal, but today it took 25 minutes to mail the packages. My lesson in patience for the day. I admired the postal workers as they treated each person with a smile and were kind.

Dear Valentine:

I went to the post office today at 12:30, forgetting that they close at noon. I will send it on Monday and keep my fingers crossed that it reaches you by Thursday. (It should.) Sorry I'm such a slacker. ;-)

Love, PV

I mailed mine yesterday, along with some chocolates. It's not hand-made by me but it's a cute card... I'm going to have to start making my Christmas card this summer for the SoWal exchange if I'm ever going to send a home-made card. I used to do home-made things all the time, though - even sewed my own clothes and knitted my own sweaters in high school - I really did.

I went to UPS yesterday and it was closed. I didn't know they closed at 3:00 on saturdays! will have to go first thing Monday.

 paula - we're just glad you are in - don't worry 'bout it! you sent me a very special christmas decoration (the three little wooden village shops with our names on them) the xmas before last, and I so enjoy them during the holidays. you didn't make them, but you did have them specially made. love them!

but maybe you can do this: go to michael's and buy a ton of crafty stuff (stickers, bag of hundreds of cuts of various specialty paper, glue, glitter, card stock or really nice construction paper, little stick on jewels, felt, and whatever catches your eye). have this on hand for you or your girls to pull out and just create something special for any holiday. keep this stocked, add to it whenever you see something funn buy it. then you'll be ready to create when the time comes.

maybe DD has some extra suggestions, she's always doing some funn creative stuff.

my dining table is a wreck right now with all the valentine stuff on it. spidey and I have a lot of work to do. sweat shop in session this week.

It is the thought that counts. Just getting a surprise in the mail is the best!!!! Nothing like a random act of kindess to brighten the day!:D Your secret SoWaller will love it!!

There are lots of great card ideas at splitcoaststampers.com. I started making cards in December and really enjoy it. I needed a little something to do other than surf and work;-) Do not be intimdated with the fancy stuff, just look for inspiration. Some of those folks are just unbelievable.

I'll just echo what Tootsie and IWIWT said. I have so much crap that I fear mr. dd will soon be divorcing me, but I just can't help myself-I buy stuff all the time. Love the scrapbooking papers. I have moments when I feel real creative and other times I can't think of a thing. My secret Valentine will get a real hodge-podge this year. Some candy, one thing hand made, and a couple of other funn things.
My friend Kate is forcing me to do a "show" with her for Mother's Day--some of her hand made stuff and some of my jewelry and stuff. I am now under the gun. Wish me luck.

Thanks for the crafty support, all. We actually have a basement full of crafts - enough to start our own craft store! The kids use it all the time. Everything from beads, jewelry parts, tons of scrapbook stuff, soap making kids, candle kits, and on and on and on. It was just a time issue for me this winter but I wanted to be in on the exchanges! So far, the little houses for Toots were made by my sister and her husband and the ornaments for Donna were made by my daughter. So, at least the crafts are made within the same family - no outsourcing. Except for those goodies I sent to my SoWal valentine this year - those were definitely not made by anyone in my family, but we sure know how to eat them so that makes them special.

But oh will I be ready for the Christmas exchange! I already have the plan...
