I'm proud of you gulls! I totally agree that weekends are tough. I tend to lose a pound or two during the week & gain it all back on the weekend. I think I need to become a hermit & quit attending social events (ha - like that is ever going to happen). I have been lurking on this thread and your success has motivated me to get back to the gym - lost 3 of my "beach" pounds. However, it is probably short lived as the doctor put me on prednisone for poison ivy :bang: and I hear that causes weight gain. So keep posting your success stories & hopefully they will continue to motivate me and help me to not get discouraged by the prednisone weight!

I'm glad you're joining us. This week has been a little thrown off with Sam's injury then illness but I'm still doing okay. Not drinking enough water and eating the veggies.

If you notice increased appetite on the prednisone just try to be aware and make good choices. have healthy snacks things on hand.:D

I have not read then book but the day I started all this I read a lot about it on the prevention website. That's why I've been trying to eat the omega-3's along with everything else. I am losing the belly fat and I really notice it right under my bra/rib cage area. I'm actually seeing some curves again ( even tho I'm not really very curvy)...my waistline is going in...it's not an apple shape or a muffin top anymore!!!!!

oh gawd, I miss it too!!! almost went to eat mexican last night in freeport. almost.

love the woman on the horse OL!!! thanks. that's us today, right?

:clap:keep at it SNS. these wenches finally got me motivated after about a year or so of checking into this thread. I'm making good changes. only lost about 4 or 5 pounds so far. but its a start. exercising and eating more of the good stuff, and cutting out sugars, most but not all starches, and alkyhall.

Still need to work on water intake!!!!!!!!!!! ya'll need to remind me to drink some pucking water.

Yep, that's our horse.;-) I'm sooo proud of you!!!4-5 pounds is grayt. Just think about a 5lb bag of potatoes ....that's a lot of weight...gone!!!!!

Good work all you wenches! I got weighed at a dr. last week and decided to face the scale head on (I usually close my eyes, I hate numbers :D). I was pleasantly surprised and loved the cute nurse, who said she would subtract 5 lbs. from my total because I had clothes and shoes on. :rotfl:

Toots...check out my sig for you.

Kitty, you looked grayt in your prom pics. you started way back when working out...you are our inspiration. I think you need to add me to your siggy. I can't pucking remember to drink water either. I wish I liked it more. I have noticed I drink alot more on sunny days.

not as well as carol's south beach diet - she's pretty much sticking to it. I'm just not staying organized enough. it seems like there is some crap going on around here every week that keeps me too distracted. FOCUS!!! drink water!!! eat veggies!!!

My new mantra....and siggy...hey...it could work.

Love you guys!!!!

So far so good with the prednisone. I have not noticed an increased appetite & have been extra careful in making food choices while on it. I actually lost another pound since I started the new prescription. Go figure! The weekend will be tough though with parties/picnics to attend.

who knew a pampered chef party would last until 2am and result in a big hangover? well, only in sowal. at dune-ahhh's. it was surely funn, but I had to go eat at the Taqueria mexican restaurant last night with allifunn because I was just plain starving. cheese dip, chips, chile relleno, coke, etc. all better.

how do ya'll like my diet?:funn:

actually, I am going to make every effort this weekend to eat right most of the time, but will acknowledge now that it ain't going to be perfect. company coming and holiday weekend and all that jazz.

meanwhile, FOCUS OL! somebody's gotta do it.

I get yelled at all the time because I do not drink enough water. My doctor gave me some tips. I keep a water bottle in my car with a straw attached. I keep bottled water in my trunk now too. In the house I use a glass. He told me to sip, sip, sip. He wants me to drink 8 16 oz. bottles a day. My chiropracter also hammers me about the water because some of my back pain is attributed to dehydration of spinal fluid. Also, the water flushes toxins out, and I am loaded with toxins. :roll:sosad:smoking adds to that)

I was told too that many people think they are hungry, but really are dehydrated. So, if you are hydrated, and trying to lose weight, you may eat less. I add lemon to my water sometimes for taste and cranberry juice. It helps to increase your bodies PH level (to remove toxins, and is healthier all around) Just make sure you brush your teeth afterwards, lemon is rough on the enamel.

Now I am going to drink my water. I need to be reminded too, so thanks Kitty.

alright, I'll drink some water too mangy.

I tried OL's tip on the protein water - and its pretty good. not sure what's in it though, sugar or otherwise - could not read the label without my glasses the other day.

natural/no sugar cranberry added to water is pretty good too, with maybe a tad of splenda.

water is a real help in weight loss because it definitely keeps you from being hungry! we all know this already, so we need to remember it and do it!!! many times I feel hungry, I know it is really the body thirsting for water.

Oprah found a new favorite food when she tried this turkey burger at Mar-a-Lago, Donald Trump's private club in Palm Beach. "I believe [it] may be the best turkey burger in the entire world," she says. The Mar-a-Lago Turkey Burger will be permanently available at the Trump Bar and Grille in Trump Tower in New York City, open to the public for lunch and dinner. It will also be served during lunch in Chicago at Sixteen, the Trump International Hotel restaurant.

1/4 cup scallions, thinly sliced
1/2 cup celery, finely chopped
3 Granny Smith apples, peeled and diced
1/8 cup canola oil
4 pounds ground turkey breast
2 Tbsp. salt
1 Tbsp. black pepper
2 tsp. chipotle Tabasco™
1 lemon, juice and grated zest
1/2 bunch parsley, finely chopped
1/4 cup Major Grey's Chutney, pureed

Saut? the scallions, celery and apples in the canola oil until tender. Let cool.

Place the ground turkey in a large mixing bowl. Add saut?ed items and the remaining ingredients. Shape into eight 8-ounce burgers. Refrigerate for 2 hours.

Season the turkey burgers with salt and pepper. Place on a preheated, lightly oiled grill. Grill each side for 7 minutes until meat is thoroughly cooked. Let sit for 5 minutes.

I'll have to try that. It sounds wonderful. A healthy tip from the Donald. Who knew?

That's the kicker...he'd never eaten one. He likes hamburgers. He tried one on the show and liked it. I DVR'd this show a week or so ago and just watched it yesterday. I'm not an Oprah fan but I do like the favorite things shows.
