I am looking for some advice regarding a vacation during Spring Break/Easter Week. I would love to stay at Adagio since my family and I were on our way down from Ohio when Hurricane Dennis arrived last year. Our condo owner advised us of the beach evacuations so we were forced to spend our vacation in the Sarasota area :sosad: which wasn't near as nice as Blue Mountain Beach.

I have found great accomodations at Adagio but am having trouble convincing my mom that the weather will be nice. She's worried that it's too cool for the beach. My kids LOVE the area and I'm not worried at all. But does anyone have advice to offer on the weather. I know I'm asking a lot. We've all been experiencing some very weird weather. We've just had a green Christmas here in Ohio and lot's of rainy/foggy weather.

Thanks for any advice you can offer!

If you ask me, the weather in SoWal beats the weather elsewhere anytime of year!! I think it is a dice roll if you are looking for warm weather everyday... but, what is her definition of warm??? I'd say come on down!!!

If your mom is also from Ohio then it will be very nice here for her in March. It can be a little iffy but mostly it is very nice in March and could be 20-40 degrees warmer than Ohio. the water is still too cold for most folks but kids don't mind it.

Tell your mom she will see 75 degree days with no humidity, calm water, and lots of wildflowers. ;-)

I visit every year the first full week of April. The weather is hit or miss. Some years, it is low to mid 80's and sunny and others a little chilly for the beach. The beach seems to be warmer in the morning and gets a little cold in the afternoon when the wind picks up. Of course, even low 70's & a little chilly is still much better than your typical April weather in Ohio.

The Gulf is always too cold for me in April but I am a wimp!

I am from Broadview Heights, a suburb south of Cleveland. We've visited the panhandle in the spring a few years ago and stayed on Panama City Beach. My son, who was probably 10 at the time got quite an eyeful with all the crazy teenagers who were mostly unsupervised. I can only imagine the college crowd! We did have many laughs though and the beach was beautiful where we stayed. My mom and dad love Pensacola and Perdido Key and have traveled there for many years in November. They're the ones responsible for our interest in the panhandle. We've made it our choice for a summer vacation for the past 5 years. We started in Destin (too crowded), then tried Navarre Beach (too remote & flat for us), then Miramar Beach.

I have been spoiled by the beautiful beaches and southern hospitality that SOWal offers and have really no interest in other areas of Florida. So I'll just keep my fingers crossed for nice, balmy weather in April :D and that my mom will be happy just to be with me and her grandkids!
