Spring Break? When is it in Sowal? When are local colleges visiting.

Just curious....We come alot, but have never at Spring Break. Wondering if our trip is going to be in the middle of the busiest week. We will be there next week! YEA!

Walton County schools have spring break March 26. Basically, we have spring break for the next month and a half! It is crazy and wonderful and exciting.

I grew up in the gulf coast and having a two month spring break is pretty unique. It can be both interesting and annoying at the same time. Either way, it's definitely not boring so you'ill be having fun no matter what

I was in Destin yesterday and cruised Old Hwy 98. It looked like PCB around Whale's Tail. Is it my imagination or has Spring Break crowds grown in Destin? Didn't Seem that crowded last year...

Yes - bigger every year in Miramar Beach to Destin.

Saw a segment on local TV where they were interviewing Miramar Beach crowd. Looked like PCB beaches and more than one said they had moved from PCB to SOWAL this year to "step it up since PCB was overdone and ours were less crowded". AT LEAST FOR THE TIME BEING.

I don't get it for Miramar Beach... The majority of spring breakers don't have cash (back in the day I have made booze versus food decisions on SB ) so rentals must be taking any money they can get in this economy for occupancy or they are not checking for the old "sleeps 4 but we crammed in 20" trick.

Does Miramar Beach have cheaper rentals?

of course they cram in 20.... the question is, are the rental properties rented out to folks under a certain age? I don't think they do around the 30A area.

It's probably a mix of properties that don't hold to the '25 and older' rule (the chain hotels by the outlet mall legally have to rent to 18 year olds) people borrowing a friend of a friend's condo outside the usual rental management companies, and parents who rent a condo for their kids in their name and then just leave.

I know I've told the story before of a friend on the WCSO who took particular joy in the times he got to call up some Birmingham hoi polloi at 2:00am to tell them that if they didn't want their drunk-to-puking 11 and 12 year old daughters to end up officially in the Florida juvie system, they needed to come claim them no later than 6:30am from county lock-up.
