I didn't know where to put this - lounge?:dunno: (Please move if better in another spot)

I noticed, when we lived in Destin and I even see it in this area, that sprinklers are on during rain - not that it has rained much lately.

For anyone reading who has a sprinkler there is a little device called a Rain Sensor. It looks sorta of like a rain gauge - when water goes in it, the sprinklers do not operate. I'm looking at mine right now - (I don't have sprinklers, I have drip irrigation for the plants/garden we are starting - so it works for both)

Ours cost around $16 at Lowes - a small price to pay in order to save resources.

Just wanted to share in case someone didn't know about this device. I didn't until recently.

Thanks
G

Good information Gidget. It is annoying to see the sprinklers on during rain. :bang: Wait 'til they start turning them on in the median between 30A and Mack Bayou. Some will water the road right in front of the traffic light, others will water a puddle.

Oh great! I bet that IS annoying.

It is a huge pet peeve of mine. I always new that back home our irrigation turned off when wet, I just never knew the device that was responsible until we just got a new one. I was like so WHY aren't these used everywhere? Seems like people would be anxious to save $$ and water. The sprinkler patrol needs to left folks know :D

Thanks SSB!

The amount of water wasted by sprinklers watering roads, cars, after/during major rain, is ridonkulous.

Supposedly most of the systems being installed have sensors, but it sure doesn't seem like it to the casual observer.

I would think the water bill alone would make it a bad idea in current times, but the damn things are still watering away.

They need a sensor for the DA's that allow their sprinklers spray onto roadways like that condo on the west side of the Tom Thumb in SGB. I can't even pass there with my windows down :-\

Our sensor kicked in yesterday what with the rain and shut down irrigation. I noticed on our bike ride to Seaside this morning that sprinklers were going at Redfish Village. I could sell these door to door and they'd be my first stop :D

AND the sensor will keep the irrigation from coming back on until it dries out. Nifty!

And I've two more to add to my list :D

Village @ Blue Mtn had them running when I went on my evening walk last night.

And this morning at High Point center the sprinklers we going over on the Blue Mtn Beach Rd side.

That's the sprinkler report for today. Perhaps we should all list places on this page. Many may not be aware they are running during wet periods or think their sensors work or whatever. We can all be part of the Sprinkler Patrol :D
