don't worry no barricade will keep this storm chaser from reporting

IMG_3174.jpg

Although I may come across as Debby Downer in this situation, please be careful as these boardwalks were closed for a reason. The County/TDC lost more than 45 walkovers in Dennis and Ivan. No, I don't expect that to happen in this storm, but if the sand is scoured out around the posts it could become dangerous. Please be careful as this is like entering the water when two red flags are flying. Thanks I am off my soapbox now.

You go girl!!!

:nono1: Please know that the boardwalks are closed because it is not safe, no different than entering the water on a double red flag day....

I understand what you are saying, but isn't that after the storm has passed? I only ask since the water was glass flat earlier.

The accesses weren't closed until this afternoon when the water was closed. Will someone likely make it safely up and down an access- yes. Could a good swimmer who understands rip currents reasonably expect that they would be fine in a double red flag condition, in the majority of cases- yes. But, I have been involved in one lawsuit where someone was injured at Ed Walline access during Tropical Storm Isidore and sued the county. I just want everyone to know that the walkovers in a storm when wet can be dangerous so why not be smart and stay off them for a day. We can't expect to tell tourists to stay out of the water with double reds when we won't stay off the boardwalks that have tape or boards up can we? Let's not be part of the problem, but try to be part of the solution and set a good example!

I didn't mean like "You Go Girl, down the boardwalk", I meant it like "You rock" for the reporting and stuff. I don't think she would have like torn the caution tape down and walked down the boardwalk. I think she has more sense than that.
