Good one, Mermy!Probably where she was conceived.![]()

I was asking one of my classes if they had ever known anyone with a strange name. One of them said that she knew someone in high school with the name pronounced "SaFEELis," but spelled "Syphilis." She asked the girl how she got her name. Apparently her Mom was at the OB/GYN while she was pregnant and saw a poster on the wall. She didn't know what it meant and thought it would be a pretty name.
When I told daughter, she (and then I) started laughing so hard that we cried. After she composed herself, she said, "Actually, Clamidia is a much prettier name."
One of hubby's physician's old friends (did their residencies at the same time at Massachusetts General) was named Richard Root, but was known as Dick Root. Seriously.
Sadly, Dick was eaten by a crocodile while on a wildlife tour of Africa. Just Google dick root crocodile.
