My daughter's homework tonight (6th grade) was making purchases, writing checks and balancing a checkbook. At least if she needs help, I can help with that. She's brought home a few things and I had no clue where to begin! It really is amazing what they are teaching and learning now a days.

Which one? I'm assuming it's safe to download one. BR, I bet you're good at these.
His latest version is the SudokuSolver. It's safe. He's a total purist who just loves to think and share his knowledge; he's definitely not a hacker, although he has the knowledge to do so. He's finishing up his Ph.D. dissertation at Auburn.

BTW Sudokus are so hot that I know people who are giving Sudoku books for Christmas gifts.

I saw this post months ago, saw it involved numbers, and passed it by. I'm horrible at any kind of math or arithmetic! But then I kept seeing this everywhere (it IS all the rage). Our Indianapolis Monthly magazine just had a big article about it. The man who invented it was an Indiana architect who didn't live long enough to see it ever catch on.

So I thought I'd give it a whirl, and I can do it!!! Even though I'm severely number challenged. It's really more about using your powers of logic. I started on the "easy" level and figured a few out. I had to cheat a few times (well, it was really more "checking" to see if I was putting in the right numbers, that's all ;-) ). Now I've moved up a step, and I have Merman hooked on it as well.

This would be great to play with while you're sitting on the beach relaxing!

I bet BR just writes a computer program to solve them. :funn:

Well, no, that's the beauty of these puzzles. You don't need a computer. Unlike crossword puzzles where language alone can stymy your efforts, these puzzles rely on numbers. There's no way to give a synonym for a number. The number either fits or it doesn't. It's completly unbendable in its solution. Logic rules, hand in hand with patience. Endless patience *sometimes*
