Up the hill from the Gateway Arch
I just finished reading The Kite Runner and cried like a little baby. Absolutely beautiful.
Anyone else read it?
I still haven't read it; I think I might be one of the last 5 people on the planet who haven't. (It's the same group of us who haven't seen "Talladega Nights"--me, SJ and 3 others.) I have the ...Splendid Suns book here waiting to be read.
I just finished Loving Frank. [ame="http://www.amazon.com/Loving-Frank-Novel-Nancy-Horan/dp/0345494997/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1/103-0625175-4811039?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1190554008&sr=8-1"]Amazon.com: Loving Frank: A Novel: Nancy Horan: Books[/ame]

It's now just you and 3 others who haven't been blessed by Ricky Bobby. Get with it, sista.

How did you like Loving Frank?

Uh-oh. SJ must have borrowed from the jdarg film library.
I liked it overall, but it was hard to read considering I knew it was going to end tragically. Also, their story made the concept of "follow your heart" look not quite so romantic; there was a lot of sadness wrapped up in their love affair.
I just finished The World Without Us by Alan Weisman. A nice little ditty about what would happen to the world if we all left tomorrow. Great read.
Uh, I think you mean great listen. ;-)

A Land Remembered by Patrick Smith. It tells the story of Florida farm family in the 1800's and tracks them for several generations. A great history of the state and an exceptional book.

The Kite Runner was fabulous. Also, just finished A Thousand Splendid Suns - loved it. Reading Water for Elephants recommended by my sister-in-law.

Water for Elephants is one of the most brilliantly written books I have ever read. I couldn't put it down. "Rosie" may be one of my favorite non-human characters ever written.

pv, I agree. Loved, loved, loved that book. Didn't seem on the surface like something I'd like, but I did. I've recommended it to so many people.
