Summer "Stay-cations?"

Have you been camping in the summer in Florida? Try it sometime, it's not all that pleasant.

I was thinking nationally, not just in Florida. :roll: There are cooler and more camping friendly destinations within the same driving distance as a $ beach rental or a trip to Disney.

Does anybody have a feel for how the season is doing? I took a drive down scenic 98 today on my way to BestBuy and noticed empty parking places and what appeared to be rather sparse numbers of tourists on the beach. Seemed a little out of place for a Sunday afternoon in June.

Does anybody have a feel for how the season is doing? I took a drive down scenic 98 today on my way to BestBuy and noticed empty parking places and what appeared to be rather sparse numbers of tourists on the beach. Seemed a little out of place for a Sunday afternoon in June.

What time was it? It usually clears out around lunch and towards sunset. Some people pull the kids off the beach if it's really hot and sunny to curb sunburns. My sources really don't want to say slow, but it's not exactly boom town either.
