oh gosh Nuttyhall. I saw your burn today out there on the beach, and all your protective clothing! hope you enjoyed the kayaking.

I can't imagine going out there with NO sunscreen at any time unless its very early, or an hour or two before sunset. which are usually the times we choose to go so no sunscreen is needed. but, we were out there today at midday and by golly sunscreen is required (and I am also olive skinned). I was wearing Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Dry-Touch Sunblock - 45 (this stuff feels great on the skin). and spent most of the time with a huge hat, under an umbrella. still got plenty of sun from walking to the water and back.

are you allergic to sunscreens? if so, you had better stay your ass in the house after 10pm and before 5pm (or later!) - and this is true for almost any time during the year but especially now. I know, its so gorgeous out there. But just as gorgeous (and a lot cooler) in the early morning or very late afternoon/early evening.

Lawd, I usually LOVE June because of the gorgeous weather, but its already July here - how did that happen? back to night time beach visits I reckon!

hope the pain goes away soon :wave:so you can enjoy the rest of your vacation!

One of the worst sunburns I've ever seen was one that daughter got when we were in Seagrove right before hubby's heart surgery at Duke. We asked the cardiologist for a prescription. He prescribed hydrocodone.

Hope you feel better quickly, NoHall, so you can enjoy your vacation.

Lots of water and aloe - either from the plant or a tube.

Aloe is one of the few things I can grow, so if you are still hurting tomorrow, have SWGB harvest you some from my far west plant graveyard.

Sorry NoFunn, wasn't trying to be ugly, but rather rub it in since you are playing and I am not.....that's all. I hope you feel better!

You have a lot of remedies to try!

Oh...that... It's pretty hot here in paradise, but better than being comfortable at home!

HoHall....I will gladly bring you a huge aloe plant...where are you. I'll deliver.

Y'all are awesome.

Last night I thought I was making a casserole out of myself. (A really icky one.) Vinegar, baking soda--yum.

The good news is that 95% of my body is pain free and fine. I do have a patch on my chest that is defying all treatment. Even Solarcaine makes it hurt worse! I just took some aspirin and am waiting for it to kick in.

I went swimming today--gorgeous day, and too hot to do anything else!. I stayed underwater for the entire time and didn't get any new burns. I put zinc on the aforementioned hot spot. I think it made it peel, which is why it's so painful now.

Love the suggestions. I haven't been by For the Health of It yet, but plan to go. Thanks for the offers of aloe, too. If this spot on my chest doesn't straighten up, I'll be in touch!

Mom always used a handful of baking soda in a tepid bath tub, laying there until the heat went away. For instant relief, I use Dermaplast, wonderful stuff! Spray it on and istantly the pain goes away!
