Aleo, it was so great to finally meet you in person today!

My mom's sunburn trick, which always works, even though it makes you smell like a salad:

1 cup white vinegar
2 cups water
a lot of ice

soak a washcloth in it, wring it out, and place it on the burn. Repeat whenever the cloth gets warm. I know I read some smarty-pants scientific-y article about why this works, but it was a long time ago...

I hope you feel better! Thanks & kudos to all of you out there working it today at the yard sale!

This is EXACTLY what my mom did.

Mom gets dark brown in about an hour. Therefore my Mom's sunburn trick was that she had none. When I was a child and we went to the beach for at least five weeks a year (spring break in St. Pete, three weeks in the summer at PCB and Daytona, Christmas to New Year's in Miami Beach), we power tanned. Tanning by 10 AM, quick lunch break, back out for tanning until 5 PM, nap until 6, dinner, and repeat the above.

Thanks everyone. My solution last night was to be so tired that I fell a sleep before I could do anything about it. I so enjoyed meeting everyone yesterday. It was well worth the red ring around my neck. I'm going to the store today and get some vinegar, aloe and whatever else I find. Thanks everyone:love::wave:

Yep, lots of Sowal wenches are sporting interesting burns. I am a tank top redneck w/ a pale face (where I always remember the sunscreen)myself.

My solution is that I drink lots of water and then take a bath.

Then I put on this great "after-sun" lotion I got from Skunky/Punzy that smells really good and keeps it from hurting/drying out. Not sticky like aloe gel.

I failed to wear a hat while fishing on the 331 causeway on Memorial Day. Lots of Aloe for Aleo...and advil helpful too. Might want to invest in a bottle of Benadryl in case it gets worse, turns purple and blisters. (To drink, not pour on the burn.)

sunburn relief

Try "plain" yogurt-apply a thin layer . This in an european old,old remedy and it does the trick. Cover with a damp paper towel sheet and if you go out wear cotton not plastic. If you call me at 850-269-2100 ,I can make for you a lotion and it will be free... But I think by the time you call, the burn will be gone. We got a little burned too. We just use aloe. It's starting to peel in various places now.
