Hi Joe,

Where are you "in the mountains"? I live in Knoxville, and if you are in the Smokies you are in my neck of the woods. I hope you are enjoying yourself, however, knowing first-hand about tourist crowds, I am surprised you came here at this time. The mountains are fabulous in late Sept., and the crowds are lighter. Perhaps if you would like to come back we could trade houses for awhile! :clap_1: Have a great trip.

I appreciate that, but I have more friends with mountain houses than I have time to spend in them. Before I spent some time in a cabin along the French Broad, I was in the Smokies NP last week for a day or two, and am now in Asheville waiting to spend a day or two at Belle Chere, before departing to FL.

Are there any direct flights from the panhandle to Charlotte or other market near there?

Hello Clan!

I feel like I know everyone after first hearing about this message board from Paula having met her on a flight. She mentioned this site and I have been a faithful reader and sincerely appreciate all of the information I have gathered in preparation of our annual family vacation.

With that being said, could someone share with me beach information related to the Sunrise beach area?

We will be coming down this Sunday and have not heard anyone speak of this area as it pertains to beach access. I am staying at "Serendipity."

This from an owner of 2 houses there:

I was there last week and the beach walkover is rebuilt. There was no damage to any of the houses but there were alot of dunes washed away. The beach was in great shape considering what hit us.

Are there any direct flights from the panhandle to Charlotte or other market near there?

I am not certain, but I believe PC has direct flights to that area. I usually drive, with many people to visit along the way. However, it is about the same cost to fly and much quicker.

Wolverines are looking good -- not that I really know because I've never gone to one of their games in 16 years here -- but I do enjoy the excitement on Saturdays (game days) when we can't leave our house because the roads are too crowded! It's a good excuse to stay home or walk.

Just let me know if you need any more information about the area and have a great vacation. We already plan on coming back there in August, November, and New Years...
