Environmental Working Group maintains a database rating many cosmetics and personal care products regarding safety of ingredients and their potential to cause allergic and other reactions through their use. If you or someone you know suffers from skin sensitivities, this site is well worth bookmarking, IMO.

As stated on their site:
Due to gaping loopholes in federal law, companies can put virtually any ingredient into personal care products. Even worse, the government does not require pre-market safety tests for any of them.

EWG's top 10 list for safe sunscreens is available here:

Happy tanning!

for granolas only

The "environmental working group" are a bunch of granolas. I would question their ratings. Consumer reports reviewed sunscreens last fall and rated Neutrogena Ultrashear Drytouch #1, which I would agree with. They also liked the Blue Lizard brand.

Guess I'll have to go with the "granolas" on this one.

I love the Skin Deep ratings. The UVB coverage problems are pretty widely known and I'm glad someone has pointed that out.
