I am well past the point of caring or even worrying about whether the food I consume is healthy or not. We are having a small party and a baked brisket, smoked sausage and kielbasa, potato salad, bean casserole and coleslaw. We will have snacks and dips as well. Go, Packers.

Every year, the food at our party attempts to somehow be representative of the two teams playing. Last year was cajun food and breaded pork tenderloin sandwiches. One year when the Chicago Bears were playing we did Chicago dogs and chili made with real bear meat.

The cities of both Green Bay and Pittsburgh have fairly heavy northern/eastern European influences on their food, so we will be having grilled bratwursts & kielbasas , sauerkraut and pierogies.

We've spent most of the week making pierogies and now have around 130 to show for our efforts.

I doubt that any of it would be considered healthy.
Great ideas!

Brats are perfect for this game! Also those folks love their potatoes.

Here's what the chef on CNN recommended today CNN Newsroom: Blog Archive - Feast for the Superbowl: Easy recipes for the big game ? - CNN.com Blogs. The potatoes would taste yummy with brats.

My husband is from WI, so we eat a lot of brats. Our son-in-law is German, and this is how his family eats them. They hollow out a Chicago roll, put mustard and onions into the roll, then cut the brat in half and stuff them into the roll. Hubby says that when he has brats in Germany (where he's traveled to about 250 times), they serve the bread separate from the brats. That's the way I've had them at the Hofbr?uhaus in Munich.

If you just buy the frozen ones in the box from the freezer section, you'll wonder what all the fuss is about.

But real, homemade ones are amazing. I'd never had the real thing before, or made them, until this week. Here's the recipe we used

Perogie Recipes - How to Make Authentic Homemade Pierogies - Pittsburgh Pierogies

Relatively simple, though somewhat labor intensive. It helps to have a helper and a beverage nearby. Also, we used a food processor to make the dough.
