You have never lived, until you have almost died. For those of us who have fought for it, life, has a flavor the protected shall never know. Patriotism is trait, that not eveyone has. Those fortunate enough to experience it, are why you can sit at your computer and make the assinine assertions that you do. Our belief in life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness, even for you, is what makes the USA an ideologic goal for the world. Do you ever read of people trying to sneak over the border into russia, china, or venezuela? No. Our ideals, our constitution and our freedoms are sought by many. Our patriotic citizens, died, to give you the rights, that you so easily dismiss.

I just made a simple general statement about the pros and cons of patriotism. I didn't say anything specifically about the USA or any other country. The fact that you have made this a personal matter makes your motives very questionable.

That sounds rather elitist. Are you saying that the political and philosophical views of those who served should unquestionably held in higher regard than those whose job it was to protect? Are you saying that there are no, none whatsoever, misguided service men or ex-servicemen?

Political threads (on the national level) don't come out so well here. They tend to be responded to by only the left wing/right wing sorts....the extremes. I guess that the middle and the majority of people get turned off.

I'd suggest to the board owner and moderators that the political forum get canceled. Paradise isn't a place to be discussing politics.

I've heard exactly this! The national level shouldn't even be discussed in S. Walton because of the local politics and open wounds/hurt feelings?

No one has to venture in here. I actually get some really good intelliget arguments from some people. Some of you have articulated my general feelings really well, and I've been enlightened more than once with people who have great positions on the issues and provide facts and links to their sources. Again, you have to trip thru the nonsense... enough said...

It's a shame however that it is so devisive on the board. Oh well~~~~~
