Obama Slams Fox News as 'Destructive'

By: Dan Weil

President Barack Obama is blasting Fox News as "destructive," saying the cable channel's point of view is "undeniable." Obama made his comments in a Rolling Stone article, reports The New York Times. Fox is in tune with legendary newspaper baron William Randolph Hearst and other media giants who expressed a point of view, Obama said.

?The golden age of an objective press was a pretty narrow span of time in our history,? Obama said in the Rolling Stone interview.

?Before that, you had folks like Hearst who used their newspapers very intentionally to promote their viewpoints. I think Fox is part of that tradition. It is part of the tradition that has a very clear, undeniable point of view.

"It?s a point of view that I disagree with. It?s a point of view that I think is ultimately destructive for the long-term growth of a country that has a vibrant middle class and is competitive in the world.?

Obama also said Fox is a winner on the bottom line: "As an economic enterprise, it's been wildly successful."

Firstly, Thank you President Obama for making those statement about Fox News. Faux News is really just pure entertainment, that many Conservatives somehow interpret as a reality based news organization....

Lastly, many left leaning Progressives, like myself tune in as well, just for the sheer fun (or horror) it all.

P.S. : William Randolf Hearst was never in the circus side show business, except for that one time he was footing the bill for promoting his then mistress, the Opera singer with the bad voice. Correct me if I am wrong here.

GE execs questioned about MSNBC slant
During GE's shareholders' meeting yesterday, O'Reilly "ambush" producer Jesse Waters confronted top executives before his microphone was cut off, while the attendees asked"about 10 politically charged questions concerning MSNBC as well as one about CNBC," according to the Hollywood Reporter.

First up was a woman asking about a reported meeting in which [chief executive Jeffrey] Immelt and NBC Uni CEO Jeff Zucker supposedly told top CNBC executives and talent to be less critical of President Obama and his policies.

Immelt acknowledged a meeting took place but said no one at CNBC was told what to say or not to say about politics.

During the woman's follow-up question, her microphone was apparently cut off. A short time later, Waters asked a question and his mic was cut, too.

"The crowd was very upset with MSNBC because of its leftward tilt," one attendee said. "Some former employees said they were embarrassed by it."

When he got the floor, Waters focused his question about MSNBC on Olbermann's interview of actress Janeane Garofalo, who likened conservatives to racists and spoke of "the limbic brain inside a right-winger."

"He [Waters] was complaining that Olbermann didn't bother to challenge her," another GE shareholder said.

Immelt told the assembled he takes a hands-off approach to what is reported on the company's news networks, which prompted a shareholder to criticize him for not managing NBC Uni more effectively.

Once again...it is NOT a news agency--Fox news is the media arm of the Republican Party. A lot of affordable campaign air time.

Fox News created, promoted, and continues to promote the tea party. What political organization has MSNBC created and promoted?

Just as CNN, MSNBC, ABC News are the arms of the Dems. There's no denying that all of them are slanted one way or another.

There are those will never accept Fox as a viable news outlet. There are those who can't get their head around the fact that the likes of Hannity and O'Reilly, and Beck are paid entertainers. It doesn't bother me. People get their news where they feel that it most fits their beliefs and opinions. Since I don't identify with either party I have no issues with any of them.

One has to ask, though...

If Fox News is the anit-Christ of the news world, why does it totally spank all the others on a weekly basis as far as viewership goes?

Wow...that's a stretch even for you who is the master of sourcing stuff that's posted here. There's no evidence anywhere that Fox created the Tea Party. Did they give them a voice? Absolutely...
