I start thinking about my summer vacation to Seagrove this time of the year, because I usually get my confirmation from the Villa's at the end of December! I am starting the count down!!!!

Kimmi, we're doing worse than your parents! We're abandoning ours Christmas week. We're alerting all friends and neighbors and then we're hightailing it down to SoWal. We tried to get the kids to come with us but they travel in gangs--like if we don't their friends with us to the beach, they're not interested! So they stay home with the white snow while we get the white sand. :funn:

I'll be down the 25th! Are you going to be down? Are you still going to be there for New Year's!?!?!?

IWIWT- Listen. When I came back from my first quarter at Auburn and my parents tried to corral me...it was not pretty. I clearly remember thinking to myself that when I have kids, I will not smother them their first Christmas back.

It was the worst. My parents killed me that year.

Thanks for the suggestion, but this child has already figured it out. SHe stays home till I go to bed then meets friends. The down side is I do not sleep well until she is home. We had a good laugh about that at fall break. The older daughter trained us right. and you are so right about not "corraling" the child or shoudl I say adult when they return.

Are you talking about my son? You have described him perfectly, down to the last minutae. It's the 2 am business that drives me crazy. I really can't fall asleep properly until Alex is back home, doors locked, and lights out. So I only half-sleep until I know he's in. I started sleeping so much better when we sent him off to school!

I will say, though, that college has done the boy good. His humor is wonderful and he appreciates his parents (especially his mother ) so much more. College really does make them mature.

Yes, we will have many nights not too restful. I may encourage her to stay where she is until the next day. She has decided to visit a friend in NY for a few days so I will be worrying long distance. Normally my motto is "out of sight, out of mind". What I do not know about I cannot worry about. They are more appreciative of hte good life when they return after being on their own.
