No surprise. The other 60% just needs to be lips and _ssholes from the cow. It's kind of like hotdogs, but hotdogs allow something like 15% to be unknown products.

Only in the USA do we allow 40% to be called beef. It is like our standards to carry the label, "made in the USA," which requires only 70% of the parts to be produced in the USA, to use that label. We love to round up so much that some local restaurants have servers who don't return loose change when giving you your change. They just round up.

I quit eating there a couple of decades ago precisely because I wasn't sure what that stuff was at the bottom of the shell. A taco can be good with about anything (real) in the bottom with good stuff on top.

No the actual "meatish" content in the tacos is only 36%. Scraps and funky bits included.

The biggest surprise in the entire article:

Miles said the lawsuit does not seek monetary damages, but asks the court to order Taco Bell to be honest in its advertising.

I recall a news story of the Taco Bell in Black Mountain NC from about ten years ago. I haven't eaten at a Taco Bell ever since, and I make sure to always treat any servers anywhere with great respect. A NC State Trooper went through the drive through at the Taco Bell. When he got to the window, the guy at the window recognized the trooper as one who had written him a ticket. The order was delayed. The trooper was somewhat suspicious of his order and checked it out before eating it. There was some special sauce added to the food. The trooper had it analyzed at a lab and it was spit! After investigation, it turns out it was spit from the guy at the window who had received the speeding ticket. Busted! State Trooper sued Taco Bell and won.
