I didn't take it that the NAACP was calling the whole Tea Party racist, I think they were just calling for the Tea Party to be less tolerant of racists in their midst. That's not divisive in my opinion. It's voicing a concern. The Tea Party could have taken the request gracefully, but did not.

In a group without a visible leadership, there is little to no accountability. It is a shame that when people show up with these racist sign and shirts, the group dynamic is tolerant.

I agree that the letter to Abe was supposed to be satire, but that satire was a window into the way this guy thinks, and it was truly scary to see his view of history, and his tendency to make sweeping generalizations.

For clarity sake, The Tea Party is nothing more than the traditional base of the Republican Party. They have no specific leader, their size and focus varies from state to state, they have no doctrines or platform that say who they are or offer up unifying 'solutions" to what is going on in D.C.?

They don't have specifics, so they will pretty much stand for anything--including offering a welcoming nod-nod, wink-wink to even the small group of racists amongst them--as long as this group can vote.

There is racism everywhere. The NAACP is fully aware of this fact, but making it political carries more weight for respective causes and motivations. I don't agree with the satirical response, but both organizations are NOT without guilt.

Response to NAACP from the chairman of the National Black Republican Association:

"Through its double vision racial lens, the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) is falsely declaring as racist Tea Party Movement activists?average Americans who do not agree with the socialist agenda of the Democratic Party?while hypocritically giving a pass to Democrats who engage in real racism.

For instance, the NAACP showed no outrage over the beating by SEIU (Service Employees International Union) thugs of a black man, Kenneth Gladney, who was kicked and called a racist name while working as a vendor at a health care reform town hall meeting in St. Louis on August 6, 2009 called by U.S. Rep. Democrat Russ Carnahan. Neither does the NAACP express any concern when Democrats regularly demean black Republicans, calling us ?Uncle Toms?, ?Sellouts?, ?House Negroes?, ?House N-word?, or worse. Leaders of the NAACP seem quite comfortable being aligned with the Democratic Party described by author Michael Scheuer as the party of the four S?s: slavery, secession, segregation and now socialism. The deplorable conditions in black communities that the NAACP complains about were created by the socialist policies of the Democrats who have been running those communities for the past 50 years.

Like the hypocrites they are, the NAACP has jumped on their racial high horse in an effort to discredit average citizens involved in the Tea Party Movement, accusing them of racism, simply because they are concerned about how President Barack Obama?s massive deficit spending is turning our country into a failed socialist nation.

It matters not that the inflammatory charge of racism aimed at Tea Party protestors in Washington, DC was demonstrated to be absolutely false in the article "A Closer Look at the Capitol Steps Conspiracy" by Jack Cashill. The Democrats making the allegations produced no documentation to support the charge of racism?not one photo, not one audio, not one video?in spite of the $100,000 reward offered by Andrew Breitbart.

It is quite clear that the motivation for the NAACP?s attack on Tea Party activists is to divert the public's attention away from the fact that President Barack Obama and the Democrats in control of Congress are slowly and deliberately transforming America from a free society into one that is government-controlled, the antithesis of our nation?s foundation."

Your source please for the following facts you listed:
....they have no doctrine
....they have no platform
...they offer up no "solutions to what is going on in Washington
...they don't have specifics
...they stand for pretty much anything
...they nod-nod
...they wink-wink
...they welcome the small group of racists amongst them as long as they can vote

I hate the word racist, it is so easy to throw that word around, it is used to many times to try and smear someone, wish there was another word out there....but Crabby,
... what or who do you think Obama has surrounded himself with to help him lead this country...have you read any of their backgrounds? Realize you dislike Glenn Beck, but he has laid out both their backgrounds and their inner connections and it is down right scary. He list the facts, the sources and has their true beliefs in their own words. All you have to do is listen. Many of them have some strong dislike for white people and they aren't afraid to express it. During the 2008 campaign there were a lot of racial slurs being thrown around by a lot of stupid people...many were directed toward white voters..remember the billy club one? Didn't that case, that had both eye witnesses and actual video get dropped by the Obama government...why is that ? As far as the "story" that Tea Party folks spit on the black congressmen as they entered to vote...no pictures, no video, no witnesses and there is a $100,000 award out there for proof of that one...and yet folks can ignore the billy club and focus on a mythical possible happening.
No matter what all of you say about the Tea Party folks out there in Sowal Political Land...they are going to make a difference in the next two elections...so you all better get use to it because they aren't going away...they are only going to grow in numbers.

There is not one shred of proof that "tea party people" are racists in this country. If so, we would be seeing pictures, posters, speeches, incidents all over the media. All we are seeing are specious allegations that appeal to the 'other side'. It is an ugly thing and a desperate attempt to discredit a very large group of people who believe the American way of life is in jeopardy All the wink, wink, I've been seeing are from democrats in order to further along this egregious myth.

This race baiting crap is getting old and is really quite pathetic.

The NAACP is racist for not changing the name of their organization.

Great article, Margarita! I wish more people would stand up to groups like that Officer has!
