I'm 18 and I moved to SoWal at the beginning of my freshman year, so I didn't have to worry too much about changing schools. I'm currently in the midst of my senior year, and even the thought of leaving at this point gives me chills. I know that I couldn't stand to abandon my friends and classes now to move somewhere else. Your son is so close to finishing in a comfortable environment, you might as well let him. Plus, the sudden change of atmosphere and people might have an effect on his grades, and with your college search underway, now would be a horrible time to risk that.

On the other hand, if he does plan to join you, he'll be welcomed with open arms at South Walton High School. It's a small school, but we're still growing and expanding in all aspects. If your family wants to come look around, I'd be happy to give you a tour and all the inside information. South Walton is a great community with tons of opportunities just waiting to be explored.

But I think the most obvious choice is for him to do what he's most comfortable with. I hope everything works out. Please keep us updated.

Bingo! Nothing would be worth living with people or family, that you're uncomfortable with!
I agree as long as he has a good relationship with them...I'm sure you will see a lot of him and his friends over the spring and summer....maybe even Christmas Break:dunno:

Beach House 25, I love your pic, of the soldiers! Those types of pics are so sad and moving! Especially since my son, Russ, was overseas! Thank God, he's no longer in the Military, but, they could still pull him back in, for EIGHT years! I have the utmost respect and admiration, for them all! With the exception of the killer Marine, that's missing! Sorry , about the diversion!:leaving:

Is this a move that must happen this summer, or could it be put off a year until he graduates?

sounds like a neat young man! I hope he will have a chance to visit the area, tour South Walton High School and find out what they offer that may benefit him, and meet with a few teens here, such as kase. It sounds like he'll be fine if he goes ahead with the transition - he has the right attitude and much family support.

He is going to do fine at any school. Good luck to your family Outta!

Unfortunately not, especially now with the house being sold.

We have some options, staying w/friends/coach, Father, coming with us. We are going to bat it around, and chat w/Father & step Mom see their thoughts as well. They may have an even better idea then we have come up with.

He truly is a great kid Tootsie, All our kids were/are. I just don't want him feeling this is something he MUST do, with him being 18 in July, he will have more responsibility, and pressure, with choosing colleges, working on scholarships etc. We do not want any extra pressure, it's confusing to us, because he continues......"No....I WANT to go with you guys, I'm just scared". and when we tell him we are to, he calms down and is fine. So mixed messages a bit for AM and I, but we are very close, and continue to discuss it.
Thanks tons for your input!
