Very sad day for me and mine.

If you want to come to SoWal and open a Thai restaurant I will make sure you have plenty of business.

The space will house a pizza joint.

The family that owns Jasmine Thai in Destin has mentioned that they'd be open to running a second restaurant if they felt like they could make the numbers work out for it. And that could be very good for SoWal indeed if they headed out that way.

It's probably a case that Thai food is a hard sell to the tourism crowd more common in the area while, to a family on vacation, trying a pizza or sandwiches at a non-chain restaurant is seen as less risky. Jasmine's clientele seems to run about 90% Destin and Bluewater locals, even with Destin Commons right across the road.

I think they could make a go of it if they publicized it more - lots of people like Thai, but many were unaware there was a Thai place on 30-A.......and it makes a nice change from pizza and can be much cheaper than dining out.

NOOOO! Oh this is sad. It's true that almost every time I have gone there I've run into locals and not so many tourist types. Too bad if it wasn't enough to keep it going...I sure hope another one will open up. I have to agree, it seems there are enough pizza places these days...

The last 2 owners in that space were driving over from Ft. Walton and it was too much travel time. There are 18 Thai restaurants in FWB.

We really don't need more pizza here in SoWal.

I would love to see Jasmine come to SoWal. They have excellent food. Love their shrimp fried rice dish.

We'll miss Sam and all at Thai Cafe - bye bye. thanks for the pad thai and all the love! you'll be very missed by many locals.

IMO, Jasmine Thai is delicious! I always have to have the shrimp tempura appetizer and it is almost a meal by itself.
