Mr. President I want to thank you for the health care reform bill that is going to cost us more in premiums with the possibility of bankrupting numerous businesses because they can't aftord the cost to insure every employee or the fine. Thank you Mr. President for all of your new debt that we now owe that my children and grandchildren are going to have to pay. Thank you Mr. President for taking our tax dollers and spending it on a stimulus bill that has lost 3 million jobs and has our umemployment rate above 9.5%. Thank you Mr. President for the way you and the government handled the oil spill weeks into the spill. Thank you Mr. President for the legislative reform bill that no one knows anything about accept that our fees are likely to go up at our banks and thank you Mr. President for not wanting to extend the Bush Tax Cuts that acutually helped businesses and everyday people and no matter what you say everyone will see their taxes go up and their paycheck go down and thank you Mr. President for my husband having to go into work today and lay-off half of his employee staff (has never had to layoff in 78 years of business) because of the decisions you have made. Again, thank you Mr. President for all that you have done. It is so greatly appreciated by me, my children, my future grandchildren, my husband and the 50 employees that don't have a job after today.

Thank you too for the biggest drop in the economy since 1946 and the highest rate of unemployment in 26 years. It was so good of you to appear on that vapid show, The View, to campaign amidst all the misery out here instead of leading.

For a second here I thought you wrote this. Then I read the part about tax cuts expiring that were helping "everyday folks" and that's when I realized this was an automated post from a computer at the RNC.

Sorry, not a Republican, just an everyday business owner's wife who saw my husband leave the house this morning with a sadden and dissapointed look on his face. He is put into a position, of no fault of his own because of others. That what really stinks.

I leave the house most mornings with a saddened and disappointed look on my face too. But rationally speaking, should I be blaming our current president for what ails me and viewing his replacement (in 2013 or 2017) as the solution to my problems?

:dunno:

Certainly, I've had a lot of things not go my way. But at the end of the day (or the beginning of it) I really need to look in the mirror for the cause and the fix.

Dear Wastin Away,

I hope you wrote a similar thank-you letter to the last president who turned a $236B budget surplus into a $1.2 Trillion Deficit in 8 yrs via two wars, at least one of them unnecessary, and by giving substantial tax cuts to the wealthiest couple of percent of Americans. Did you thank him for infringing our civil liberties via the Patriot Act? Did you thank him for destroying the American image among the society of civilized nations?

Are you a small business owner UGABUGA? Have you ever had to make sure you had enough money in the bank to make sure 115 employees could cash their payroll checks, have you ever had to make sure your bank account had enough money each week to meet your companies business expenses, have you ever had to make sure you had enough money to make sure you could pay for the employees heath care costs and all of other taxes associated with being a small business owner. If you are then God bless you because you are helping support 70% of the jobs in this country. These problems were not an issue 8 years ago. They are NOW!!!!, so until you are in our shoes dont tell me about thanking the last President. The issues have resulted from decisions this President and this Congress have made in the past 18 months.

The economic collapse began in 2007 and 2008. If you want to ignore that fact, than this thread will go sour real fast.

Wastin Away,

No, these problems were not an issue 8 yrs ago. They are Now because President Bush & the Republican Congress took a booming economy and turned it into a shambles.

You're convinced our economic problems are all the fault of the current president & the current congress. I believe it's almost totally due to the failed policies prior to his taking office. We'll just have to agree to disagree.

I wonder if you know that, yesterday, Senate Republicans blocked the President's bill to aid small business
Republicans Block Bill to Aid Small Business - DealBook Blog - NYTimes.com

The President said the bill, which would provide for loans and tax breaks to small businesses, would stimulate the economy; the Republicans said it would add to the deficit & would hurt the economy. The bill needed 60 votes to advance; the final tally was 58-42. All the Democrats voted Yes; all the Republicans voted No. It's hard for me to understand how you rationalize it, but go ahead & blame the president & Democrats if you want to.
