My mother's policy is no thank you note, no more presents!

My mother's policy is no thank you note, no more presents!

My son's birthday is tomorrow and he got a card and some $$ from a family friend on Saturday. I mentioned to him that he needed to call them and thank them for the gift. Before I could even get in the house he was on the phone with them thanking them for the gift. I think a call or a thank you note is the gracious thing to do. IMHO.
I love many things about the computerized era...but thankfully my parents eschew the computer/email age & my mother still writes & sends old fashioned "newsy" letters (complete w/ clippings!). Receiving one of Mom's chunky taped up envelopes in the mail is better than Christmas!
I'm a proponent of some "quaint" old fashioned niceties... like Thank You Notes, Saying Please & Thankyou, being a Gracious winner or loser... that make the world a nicer place to share with one another.
I agree with you and I also love writing and receiving letters. My son's birthday is tomorrow and he got a card and some $$ from a family friend on Saturday. You may be the next recipeint of the "kindest of all award" after Princess Kate.I agree with you and I also love writing and receiving letters.
