Right here!
The bill, if it becomes law, would create the Bureau of Consumer Financial Protection and empower it to ?gather information and activities of persons operating in consumer financial markets,? including the names and addresses of account holders, ATM and other transaction records, and the amount of money kept in each customer?s account.

The new bureaucracy is then allowed to ?use the data on branches and [individual and personal] deposit accounts ? for any purpose? and may keep all records on file for at least three years and these can be made publicly available upon request.

Immediately I think, "Good to track terrorists......and, those Wall St. Basterds."

But, an attorney friend of mine and I had dinner a couple of years ago and while I had always taken the position that if I am being watched, why do I care? I have nothing to hide. However, from the respect of our rights and the Constitution these little bills are stripping away our good ol' USA Freedoms.

I am not for these little bills that sneak through.

I thought they could already do this. :dunno:

Though I don't like that someone in the public can now ask for my financial records and get them. Sheet like that is going on I may as well join Facecrack.

Scooterbug, I think they could access if there was cause. Now, they don't even need cause. Watch the mailboxes be filled with junk offers soon.

P.S. The minute you close on your home, you will be inundated with 0% offers.

Oh, I am already pitching a fit because I got my first piece of mail from a local company congratulating me, referencing the GD new property address, and soliciting my business (I will wear a tube top, beehive, and spike heels to my job at Wal-mart first because I am so pissed off) ...................dated within 24 hours of the GD closing! :pissed:

I have no problem living my life "on the grid" and being a good citizen but I DO mind the details of my life being released for marketing fodder WITHOUT my say-so!

I WAS seriously considering it until the latest round of articles about 'how crappy Facebook's privacy settings were and how they would never change' came out! ;-)

I love that cartoon!

That is an AP article being carried by most major news outlets. I don't think it puts a positive spin on the spill per se. It just seems to report an unintended but factual outcome. No?
