and that reminds me of my Texas Belle grandmother who'd tell us that in her day they called avocados "alligator pears." except in her wonderful Houston accent it sounded like "alli-gay-tuh pay-uhs."

jdarg, I'm so glad I'm not the only one who thinks they are disgusting! I just thought I didn't understand them!And escargot--you can't put enough butter and garlic to make those things taste any better! But, blue cheese and mushrooms--YUM! My daughter says that blue cheese reminds her of toe jam. I try not to think about that when I'm enjoying a good blue!
