So, Monday was Mr. DD's birthday and his greetings from some sweet SoWallers reminded me what day it was! I was so busy planning our trip to Disney that I totally forgot it was his birthday! Some loving wife I am!!
Anyway, we batten down the hatches, feed the livestock, load up and head for the airport. We remote park and head for the terminal. It is at this point that Mr. DD remembers he forgot to lock the car. This was about an hour after I popped a xanax for my flight anxiety, so the unlocked car was of little concern to me.
We check in and proceed to Friday's behind security for a late breakfast/lunch. I had 2 BF Bloody Marys and a burger. Needless to say, I didn't have much anxiety after this.
I did however, get pretty claustrophobic sitting in the middle seat of the plane, but I survived.
Arrrived in Orlando, got our cute little PT Cruiser rent car and I navigated
mr. dd to the hotel! We actually made it without too many wrong turns. Checked in, changed clothes and headed for Citywalk and Emeril's. It was freezing cold so we didn't Citywalk too much. Emeril's was wonderful except for mr. dd's redfish tasted really fishy. They took it off the check. The creme brulee was to die for! Cosmos were great! (A word of caution here--board moving sidewalks very carefully after cosmos.)
Tuesday: mr. dd takes off for golf and I take off for Animal Kingdom after a breakfast at the hotel of a coffee, cinnamon roll and 4 slices of bacon--$14.00 thank you very much!
It was uncomfortably cold at Animal Kingdom, but became more bearable later in the morning. Met some really nice people from Ottowa that had driven there!
Saw some cool animals and took some pics--will post later. It was pretty funn. Then, in the afternoon, picked up mr. dd and went to Epcot. I think I musta walked off that creme brulee and more on Tuesday!! Epcot was good. I enjoyed all the countries and the land pavillion. We went back to the hotel and ate dinner in the restaurant there--big mistake! Terrible food!! I got a surprise phone call on Tuesday from Cork!! She said she was gonna come see me on Wed!! :clap_1: I told her I was going to Seaworld and she said OK!!
Wed: Sent mr. dd off to the trade show and headed out to meet Cork. We met near Seaworld and she rode with me to the park. We got the map and show schedule and the first show we saw was something called the Brewmaster's club, so we headed to the Budweiser pavillion. As I said in an earlier post, we will just say that we are now members of the Brewmaster's club! We did manage to see "Believe"--Shamu's show, and it was wonderful! We talked and talked and had a helluva good time! Then she followed me to the hotel where we met mr. dd and we were gonna go eat, but instead just ended up hanging out in the hotel bar. We weren't gonna subject her to that food!! For those of you who don't know Cork very well, she is such a delightful, enthusiastic and fascinating person!! I'm so glad I got to spend some quality time with her!
Mr. dd thought she was great too! We said our good nights and she headed for home.
Thurs: The Fence Convention at Orlando Convention Center. I drop mr. dd off for what we thought would be a couple of hours. I go to Denny's across the street for breakfast and he calls just as I've ordered and says the dang thing doesn't start til 11! So, I tell the waitress and she holds my table and order til I go get him and come back! We eat and I take him back. I went to the Adidas store and bought him a pair of pretty cool shoes for his birthday. I just sorta shopped and drove around some while waiting for him. He finally called, I picked him up and we headed for the airport. I took my other xanax and had a couple of quick cosmos at the airport bar. I slept through the hour we waited on the runway because of the weather and I thought we were in Dallas when I woke up!
The flight was pretty bumpy, but not as bad as I have been on before. Left Orlando at 80 degrees--arrived in Dallas to 32 degrees and light snow!
Rushed upstairs upon arriving home to get on SoWal and see what the heck y'all had been up to all week!!
Had funn, but was glad to get home!! Airports make me crazy!!
