Since I haven't won the lotto yet (really should start buying tickets) I have been playing philantropist on a smaller scale through Kiva's microloan program.

It's quite interesting to see what people can do with a small loan ($25 is the recommended amount). They repay it with interest, so I just keep redonating the money.

That is so true. While it would be nice to have millions to give away, as long as you give as much as you can, sometimes that can be a higher percentage of what you have than someone that has the millions.

I like the Kiva program too.

CARE is another organization where you can support a village and follow their successes and uses of the donated money. We chose a couple villages to support from Join MY Village:

We have a niece who is associated with this nonprofit. She visits the villages from time to time.
