Great video! How long of a rope do you use to tether your kayak? I've always wanted to hop off the kayak and explore when I'm out there, but wasn't sure of a practical way to manage the kayak while underwater.

How long is my rope? Well, it's the longest piece of blue rope that I found in the back of my truck, combined with a little piece of yellow rope I found lol I guess it was about 10 feet if I would hazard a guess. I would think it would be better with a couple more feet, but then again, with the sinus pressure, I have difficulty going much deeper anyway.

But that is enough for the second sandbar, even less probably. Regarding the golf ball, it wasn't an abberation. I've found a numer of nice balls out there in the gulf. I assume either a rich person just enjoys doing it, or swims out on occasion to gather what he can find, which I assume would be most of them.

Which reminds me. I need to practice hitting out of the sand. I'm already pretty good at hitting into it

I'm usually just a part-time lurker dreaming of the day when we get to move to SoWal, but I had to post and say thanks for this and all your other videos. "Another Walk With Mike" is my 8-year-old daughter's new "favorite show." Almost every night this week before bedtime, she'd say, "Can we pleeeease watch 'Another Walk With Mike'?" It's comical. She especially likes the snorkeling ones (since that's her all-time favorite activity), but she enjoys the narrated "episodes" most of all, I think. She wants to be an oceanographer or some type of scientist/naturalist, and we all love SoWal better than just about any place in the world, so these posts have been such fun to watch. Thanks again -- I'm sure she'll be tickled when you have a new video. You have a fan! :) God bless...

Wow, thank you so much. That brought water to my eyes. I just got back from a visit with my little ones, ages 7 and 9 and they will be here on the 9th-26th.

Thank you so much for sharing this with me. You can't imagine what that means to me. I miss my little ones too much and having you write this to me was profound.

I will have some great, I hope, snorkeling videos for her in the middle of the month. Let her know it will be coming. It'll be before the 20th.

Wow! Again, you just made my day with that. Thank you so much for sharing that with me.

you're welcome!

You should have seen her little face when I told her you were making another snorkeling video and to tell her it was on the way. She was so impressed! It was adorable.

Be careful as you go...:shark:

We'll definitely be watching...

I thought of going out on another snorkeling trip today, but with the slight drizzle and overcast conditions I felt the light penetration in the Gulf would not be conducive to great photography. BUT, I was able to get out for a paddle and right before launching, while 'relieving myself, a sizable Eastern Diamondback Rattlesnake was no more than 5 feet away. Wow!

I'll be making an edited video of it soon. You know, it never really rattled. I'll discuss it more fully when I post, but it was a welcomed encounter.

Hopefully the video will be of the snake, the rattlesnake......:rotfl:

Surf looked kinda tough this morning for going out. Still fairly windy.

I did leave that one out there, didn't I? Easy pickings. Yep, what my camera work didn't omit, my editing did :yikes: So you'll only see the serpent that lives out in the wild. Although, I have been known to emit a pretty 'wild' growl now and again under the right circumstances.

And yes, I noticed the surf pounding a little. It's nice to have a variation so people can surf and body surf etc. But I like to see it calm, easy to get out there and the water not too roughed up. But it is still that pretty emerald color right now. Beautiful!

The Rattlesnake video is done. I'm just waiting to put it up. Got a few things to do. But I noticed I put the word 'it's' when it should have been simply 'its'. That kind of stuff eats away at me. But it takes a long, long time for me to properly edit this stuff and it was 2 a.m as I was finishing up, so mistakes are bound to happen as patience wears thin.

Anyway, I'm sure I'll post it soon. And yes, only the 'Rattlesnake'
