If this cloud cover moves out, we are in for a treat tonight. For the last week or two, I have watched Venus and Jupiter move closer together. Other than the Moon, they are the two brightest things in the sky (look in the South West sky), and the first to be seen immediately after sunset. Tonight, they will be very close together and sitting in the cradle of the crescent Moon. Tomorrow, they will still be close together, but on the other side of the Moon. Go check it out. You don't need a telescope. If you wait too late, you will miss it, as all three will disappear from sight around 8pm. Look for them just after sunset.

Oooooh!!!! I've been noticing the pretty fairy tale crescent moon with its stars close by, but had no idea that the "stars" were Jupiter and Venus! It's lovely--thanks for 'splaining it!

Yes, it was. I got a few pics of it, over the water, but nothing like sitting out there and feeling it all.

Be sure to look again, early tomorrow night. Venus and Jupiter should appear to be on the other side of the Moon.

When I took the dog out this evening at around 7pm, I couldn't believe how bright these two "stars" were in the sky - near the crescent moon!! Said out loud a "Wow" to myself and just stood there a few moments to look - it was another day in paradise :)
