Turtle nests do occasionally get dug into by coyotes, dogs, foxes and raccoons, but I have never heard of pigs on the beach, and never seen any pig tracks there either. I googled a little bit and could not find any reports of pig predation to turtle nests.

I don't care who y'are - that's funny right there!

Wild pigs have been here for years. Many stories of old Grayton Beach mention them. But, I've been here for years too, and I never saw one until last year.

What's up with not eating catfish from the bay? We enjoy sailcat...and mullet...and shrimp...and crabs...

I can't help but feel sorry for 'em when I read people wanting to put the ole kibosh on 'em just cuz they're ugly. Didn't you people ever watch The Lion King!?! Remember PUMBA!?! How're you gonna go and kill PUMBA!?!

If being ugly means getting hunted down and wiped out, then half the women I ever dated are in trouble.

We have seen evidence of the wild pigs on the beach at St. Vincent's Island and Indian Pass. They tear up the beach like they do the dirt- huge areas of the beach were all rooted up.

The point is that these pigs are not native, they are descendants of pigs brought here by early settlers. Like any invasive species they are detrimental to the natural environment and bring nothing to the table. I believe the they are fair game for hunting year round as they are not protected by the state.

You could say the same of many of the people who live in SoWal.
