There have been a few nasty viruses making people feel miserable as of late. Wash your hands frequently and avoid the afflicted as best as is possible. If airborne makes you feel better, take it. I used to take zinc lozenges when I had a cold and they seemed to help. Maybe it is a waste of $$$ but I take 1000mg vitamin C daily. Don't waste your cash of echinacea(sp?);there was a beautifully constructed study last year that demonstrated the futility of this remedy. A warm bowl of chicken soup never hurt either:D

thank you sowal doc... :D . I think airborne can help if you are getting a mild cold (it has a ton of C in it). Zinc has helped me too, but only if its something mild I'm trying to get. and I concur with the echineacea thing - and have heard that studies show this doesn't do squat.

chicken soup always helps.

But, if you are really feeling sick, go to your doctor!!!!! Recovery is always much better and speedier when given the proper meds.

Oh and I forgot, if I feel like something is brewing I like to take a few doses of Emergen-C. It may do nothing but create a pleasant fizzy sensation on the palate, but it makes me feel better. Anybody else try this stuff?:dunno:

Emergen-C!! Absolutely! Buy it by the case. I'm not sure it really helps that much either, but I'm like you, it just makes you feel better. My other stand by, old faithful, is Vicks. mr. dd won't come near me and the kids walk in and always make some snide remark, but hey, I absolutely think it helps!!

echinacea is only an immune (white blood cell) stimulant and like all organic medicines can be dangerous if improperly used or perscribed - taking it after you've been exposed has no effect - it will also increase osteoarthritis if you have it and if overused can actually start it - mix echinacea with goldenseal root extract and ginger root extract and a bunch of vitamin c and some b6 and a little b12 and you've got airborne

I LOVE Vick's. If I am getting sick, Vick's smeared all over my face and nose, Celestial Seasonings Lemon Zinger tea w/honey in it, and early to bed with a good book seems to fight it off (most of the time- I'm sure that I just jinxed myself).
