Every Thursday Night | Americana Under the Stars - 6 p.m.– 8:30 p.m.
Starting with an open mic at 6 p.m. in the amphitheater Topsail presents an evening of music. Free admission into park and a suggested donation of $5 goes to the Friends of Topsail Hill. Bring a chair, your favorite beverage and enjoy some music in the park. This is family/pet friendly and fun for all ages. Friday August 2 | Surf Fishing - 10:00 a.m.– 12:00 p.m.
Surf fishing is a popular sport along the beaches of Topsail Hill. This program will teach you what types of bait will work, what times of year certain fish can be caught and common fish you can catch from the beach. Fishing gear is optional, the park has fishing gear. This program will take place at the Beach Access, park in the Day Use parking area and catch the 10:00 a.m. tram to the beach. The program will take place once the tram arrives at the beach.
Friday August 9 | Campbell Lake Canoe Trip - 9:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.
Join us for a unique opportunity to paddle Campbell Lake. Located within the heart of Topsail Hill, Campbell Lake is the larger of the parks two coastal dune lakes. You will join the ranger as he leads you to various points around the lake and discusses what makes this lake as well as the others so unique. No outside canoes or kayaks are allowed on the lake so space is limited to 10 people for each trip. A sign up sheet will be available in the ranger station from August 1 and will be on a first come first serve basis. Meet at tram stop 1 by 9:30 a.m. on August 9 to catch the tram to the lake.
Saturday August 10 | Breakfast with a Ranger - 9:00 a.m.
Join the Rangers of Topsail Hill to learn about the park, it’s history and to ask them all the questions you can think of about the park, its wildlife, and anything in between. This program is ideal for the whole family to enjoy. To cover the cost of food, please bring $5, which goes to Friends of Topsail Hill State Park, to enhance the park or bring your own breakfast.
Friday August 16 | Beach Mice - 2:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m.
We have residents in our dunes that are extremely rare. The Choctawhatchee Beach Mouse only comes out at night and only lives in the dunes near the beach. This program will give you an understanding of these creatures, what makes them special, and how we track/monitor them. We have one of the largest populations of this species in the panhandle and our efforts help ensure this continues into the future.
Friday August 23 | Animal Tracks - 1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m.
This all ages program is designed to be a hands on learning experience in the art of tracking. You will learn different types of tracks and which animal makes them. You will get to make your own tracks using the same techniques used at the parks and you will go on a short hike to see tracks in the wild. This program will take place in the clubhouse and conclude with a short hike to apply your knowledge.
