CNN says you all are in for a very bad weather day......y'all hang in there and batten down the hatches! I've been through a tornado (Huntsville, 1989 in the Winn Dixe Shopping Ctr - roof came off) and it's scary....keep us posted!

I am in Huntsville Bikermom (my hometown). I was living in Mobile at the time of the 1989 tornados, but my sister and brother were here. Thankfully, they were ok. I am glad you were.

I hope all of you will be safe today. We are expecting severe storms here this afternoon!!!!

I was away at college when the tornado came thru HSV in ’89 and had to spend a very scary 2 hours working the phones before I knew that my parents were OK.

The tornado came within a few blocks of their home and my Mom drove thru the path of the tornado on her way home from work. Fortunately, she arrived at the Airport-Whitesburg intersection probably 2 minutes after the tornado and was unhurt.

She stopped to help a woman who’s car had been thrown on top of an electrical transformer. The woman had no recollection of how she had got there. Scary.

Wow, small world. So did you hubby graduate high school in Huntsville? We moved to TN is 1980, and a host of other places, but I keep coming back "home". I won't leave again unless it is SoWal. ;-)

Yes, husband graduated from HHS 1982...

.Uncletimmy : wondering if I know your mother???))) How weird ? I've heard that story many times re: car on transformer. We just recently moved from our home on Tannahill dr. to Oak Ridge , TN.

I'll bet basements are not common at the beach! Do you have crawlspace or interior room w/no windows? We had lots of warnings in Huntsville and we always put bike helmets on the kids and threw a mattress over ourselves or went under the house .....Picking up kids from school during is a mess!! you poor thing!!! Keep flashlights handy and cellphone on you. Power always goes first...Keep us posted!
