6thgen, I don't know how you propose that we get them to stop doing it to each other, but it's getting worse over there, not better, and we should leave before another 3000 volunteers get killed or worse.

Not according to the latest reports that the surge is showing progress. And I don't care if they do it to each other, or at least I don't want to risk American lives for it. I care that they are trying and were overtly threatening the US. If you want to get into it, read a few threads down the board first where I've stated all of this.

there was no al Qaeda in Iraq before we showed up.

Wrong. Again, go back and read up where I've refuted this before I have to again.

For some reason those darn terrorists & insurgents just don't follow the Geneva Convention! Of course they also don't follow their own religion's tenets even though they're supposedly fighting a holy war. It's almost like they'll do whatever hideous thing they can think of.

Yes I know there are several misleading articles out there for whatever political position you want to take. But the reality is Saddam and his Baathist regime had no love for al Qaida. Al-Zarquari was on Saddam's hit list. Remember Saddam wanted absolute power, al Qaida was a threat to his complete power over Iraq. He was more secular than al Qaida and a jihad would not have helped his regime. He only called for jihad when he was attacked, when he needed their help. He shared a hatred of the US with al Qaida, but Afghanistan was where their leader and the mastermind of the 9-11 attack was. That is where the war should have been, our invasion of Iraq and dismissal of bin Laden emboldened al Qaida. Yes they are now in Iraq, see the difference in the country with no control of their iron fisted dictator.
al Qaida can do as they please and we are the perfect target.

To get people fired up and rehash the same old arguments.

And yet I fall for it everytime:doh: As if reasoning and logic will somehow make sense this time. :bang:

I am taking my sanity and going to a more pleasant place, the lounge, and then home by the pool.
